Dear Lynn,
You may
remember us, the Vet family. We adopted a seven year old female
dachshund from you by the name of Babe. We renamed her Penny.
We just wanted to write you and let you know that we had to put her down
on January 20th. It was a very hard decision, but Penny had
developed some severe back problems that could no longer be helped by
surgery or steroids. We have come to believe that there can't be
another dog like Penny. She was great! So thanks for the two
and a half years of joy with our dog. Who knows, if we get to a
place where we feel ready for another, we will give you a call.

| Pops. Lynn used to joke
that he was the oldest living Dachshund on the planet. Then we would
joke, when she wasn't listening, about whether he was truly alive or not!
Pops was adopted out, but circumstances at
his new home upset his delicate system. He was truly an old
gentleman, not a tooth in his head, failing eye sight and often a speed
bump when you were in a hurry.
But his new family loved him until they knew
it was time to return him to RAIN. |

Pops spend the last months of
his life being a Dachshund in ever sense of the word. He had other
Doxie friends to try to chase, cats to harass, garbage to raid and many
warm laps whenever he wanted one.
When it came time to say good bye, Lynn
said that she felt good that Pops would be able to go somewhere and really
run without having his bones ache, eat anything he wanted without an upset
stomach (and having teeth) and mostly perhaps catch up with his original
owner that went before him all too soon for Pops.
But we know Lynn misses Pops, as does her
hubby John. For no matter how loud he played his DVDs, Pops never
left his side!
Bye little dude, you were an inspiration
for all of us, Rock On! |
