IN
LOVING MEMORY OF "Andy" aka "Stretch".
Lynn and all,
Last night we had to put Andy to sleep. Gordy's not
quite sure what happened. Andy was just standing next to him at the stove
(HOPING for some food to drop), when Andy began to cry in pain. He couldn't
stand or move, and he was very vocally in pain. Gordy and John ran him to
the vet, Streamwood Animal Hospital. There weren't many options, and no
guarantees. Since he was in so much pain, they decided to let him go.
Needless to say, we are taking it very hard. We had a great 4+ years with
him, and we know Amos is really going to miss him. As Amos aged, he became
more and more dependent on Andy, and he's a little lost right now. We also
wanted you to know just how wonderful Dr. Cindy @ Streamwood Animal Hospital
was yesterday. She is a very caring and sensitive person, and made a
difficult decision easier to make.

When I picked up Stretch at the shelter, I liked him
immediately. He was a clown, a very pretty boy and ... not a
Dachshund. Lynn, our Doxie Rescue person, often laughs at me when I
intake Doxies for her. I am almost always surprised by their ability
to scare the living daylights out of me with their intensity and stubborness.
So many small dogs cling to you when you take them from the shelter, not
Doxies, they are proud, fearless and ready to set the rules from day one.
Stretch was the anti-Doxie. He wanted to be
silly, he wanted to kiss me, he was the first Doxie I had loose with my
other fosters and I enjoyed him enormously. I was happy beyond words
when he joined this wonderful family who doted on him and brought him almost
every Saturday to see us. I was always so happy that a little weiner
with so much joy could join a family that appreciated him so dearly.
