Champion: (noun) An ardent defender or supporter of another person or creature When a dog or cat comes in with special needs, they need someone to take up their cause, someone to support them, someone to be their Champion! RAIN Champions are people who have donated to the support and care of a special animal in need. They can also be people who donated money to support a particular type of need, such as our Heartworm Treatment fund or our recent initiative to begin AVID microchipping all our cats. The basic costs of getting a dog or cat out of a shelter and ready for adoption are high.DOG:

And that’s just the basics. Add in the phone calls, gas for driving to the shelters and adoption events, basic office supplies, crates, toys, food bowls, leashes, collars, tags and on it goes ... it adds up fast. When a special case comes in it can really hit our group finances hard. Intensive medical care might be needed, often x-rays, additional blood work, urinalysis, visits to specialists, additional medications or supplements are required and more. These costs add up very quickly. The adoption fees are only designed to help cover the basic costs. When an animal comes along that needs special care, we look for a Champion to help them!
