Scrunchie has a sad tale we hope will have a happy ending.

On a routine trip to the shelter at a very late hour, one of our volunteers stopped for coffee at a 24 hour mart.  Like many volunteers, she lives on coffee and was throwing her previous cup in the trash to purchase a free jolt of caffeine.

This time the trash meowed.  Inside was a paper bag duct taped closed and wiggling.  Inside was a small kitty with a giant wound on her back.

Scrunchie has been at our vets for weeks.  The wound gaped down to her spine, it was open, it was nasty and she was bordering on septic from the infection.  Her fur was so matted, she was so scared, her treatment was difficult until she finally seemed to trust again.  Scrunchie spent weeks on IVs and antibiotics until she could finally have the wound sutured and later be spayed.
