My name used to be Sugar, But I am now called "Erin" |
Sugar and her brother lost their home and ended up at Animal Welfare League because 2 pups were just to hard to train at once. |

| It has been a year and a
half now since Erin (Sugar) joined our family. As you can see in the
picture, she has grown up to be a beautiful young lady. In the time spent
with us she has brought nothing but joy into our lives. Her days are spent
playing with her two sisters Ginger and Kelly, also Cairn Terriers, who
graciously "adopted" her and welcomed her into their home. They
all look forward to their walks around the lake and trips to the Dog Park
where they obviously enjoy being the center of attention. We cannot thank
the R.A.I.N. team enough for rescuing Erin and bringing us together. We
still find it hard to understand how anyone could have given up this sweet
little girl. In addition there is not enough we can say about the work the
R.A.I.N. Team has done, and continues to do, in finding homes for pets in
need.
"Saving just one dog will not change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog". Thank you R.A.I.N. for all your work, but especially thank you for Erin. Jeff and Colleen |

Thought I would give your a
weekend update on our recent adoption.
On Saturday night, 5/25/2002, we adopted Erin (f/n/a Sugar). Erin is the 9 month old female Cairn Terrier that was with her brother Chico. We only stopped in Pets Mart to buy dog food. She is a sweetheart. Very quick learner and anxious to please. We are teaching her her new name. She was not responding to Sugar anyway. She is very quiet and is getting along with her new sisters (both Cairn Terriers) Ginger (11), Kelly (3). Ginger has taken on the mothering role and Kelly is her playmate. All three are getting along fine even during meal time. However, I believe that Erin had to fight brother Chico for meals because she inhales her food. We are teaching her boundaries and she is responding great. She is not housebroken but I am confident that she will be soon especially with her sisters helping to teach her the ropes. We are crate training her and she doesn't mind her crate at all. We just need to remember that she can't be unsupervised and we need to work hard with her. She is coming along great though. Kelly also taught her how to play ball and bring the ball back and drop it so we can throw it again. She gets along great with kids. We don't have any kids ourselves but our nieces and nephews were with us this weekend and no problems. She is initially shy with people until she gets to know them, then she warms up quickly. She doesn't seem to be going through any separation anxiety from Chico probably because she has two new sisters to play with. I tried to find a home for Chico but my Cairn Terrier friends prefer females to males. We have an appointment with our Vet next Tuesday. Thanks to R.A.I.N organization for taking the time to find good homes for these dogs. Colleen & Jeff |
