My name used to be Lysander

But I am now called "Monty"

Lysander was a grubby yellow dog, one of hundreds at Chicago Animal Control - but something special just showed in his eyes.

I was just thinking about you today! We now call Lysander...Monty. He is settling in wonderfully and Jake and him are inseparable at this point. We started dog training three weeks ago and it is going really well. I was a bit worried because he can be a bit nippy around dogs he is not familiar with, but he has not shown that behavior in class. He no longer shows protective-type behavior with food or toys and has learned to share quite nicely. At first, he was an attention hog, but even that has subsided and he is learning to wait his turn for affection instead of jumping all over everyone. He is very smart and has learned how to get the lid off of our so-called dog-proof garbage container, so we have just moved it to a higher spot where he cannot reach it. He can be quite the devil! I really believe it was the right decision to bring him home; he seems to be a good match for everyone and is a wonderful addition to our family. He happily runs around our yard chasing birds or any other poor unsuspecting animal that may have wondered in. I have attached two pictures, they are a bit blurry though. I will try to send you a better picture once one becomes available.

Take care,

Janet
